Nick Knight has directed the imminent Kanye West documentary Jesus is King, out exclusively in IMAX this Friday 25 October. It is being released in tandem with West’s new album of the same name, also out Friday, which he announced this morning on Twitter.

West's 2016 album, Life of Pablo , was allegedly the Chicago native's first gospel album” but upon its release, although the album had some Christian references, it was laced with vulgar language and content. One month after its original release date, Kanye West's new album Jesus is King is expected to be released on the same day as his IMAX films appears in cinemas across the world. Kim Kardashian-West has posted a possible tracklist to her husband's album, while journalists at album listening parties have revealed some guest spots we might expect from Jesus is King, which was originally named Yandhi.

All purchases are said to “include presale ticket access to an upcoming Kanye West event.” It does not say what that event is — it could be a Sunday Service situation, or it could be another Jesus Is King live listening session, similar to the one Kanye is throwing in Los Angeles tomorrow, Wednesday October 23. It would seem that Kanye West's collection will really be dropping this Friday all things considered, as the artist has quite recently made Jesus Is King accessible for preorder on vinyl, CD, and computerized download. 

A new release date for Kanye West’s forthcoming album Jesus Is King has reportedly been announced. Various attendees of the Kanye West Experience at the George Washington University Lisner Auditorium claim that ‘Ye himself confirmed the album’s tentative release date of October 25, set to coincide with the premiere of the IMAX movie.

A trailer for the film shows Knight, the photographer, director and founder of ShowStudio, behind the camera with West, filming a gospel choir on location at installation artist James Turrell’s Roden Crater in Arizona, in summer 2019. West has previously expressed a dedication to Turrell’s immersive works, reportedly donating $10 million to the development of the Roden Crater project after visiting it with Turrell in December 2018, and interviewing the artist in another short documentary directed by Nico Ballesteros. He also once said on Twitter that: “We all will live in Turrell spaces.” Turrell also features in the trailer for Jesus is King.

Kanye West fans may be in limbo as they await West’s indefinitely delayed latest album Jesus is King—but they’re no longer in suspense regarding the IMAX experience that accompanies the musical project.
